The World Solidarity Forum and the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) are very proud to collaborate in the official Brussels launch of the sixth edition of the Global Terrorism Index (GTI).
The Global Terrorism Index is produced by the IEP and developed in consultation with the Global Peace Index Expert Panel. It provides a comprehensive summary of the key global trends and patterns in terrorism. The research is based on the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) the most authoritative source on terrorism today and considered to be the most comprehensive global dataset on terrorist activity that has now codified over 170,000 terrorist incidents. The GTI has used this data annually since 2012 to rank 163 countries, covering 99.7% of the world’s population, based on the impact of terrorism on each country.
The GTI analyzes a number of vital aspects of terrorism such as the socio-economic conditions under which it occurs, how terrorism changes over time, the geopolitical drivers and ideological aims of terrorist groups and the strategies used by terrorists.
Join us for the official Brussels launch of the Global Terrorism Index 2018, in which results will be presented by Mr. Serge Stroobants (Director of Operation for Europe and MENA region)!
